Lead Stewards

EFA's model is a direct intervention for the long-term health of American agricultural communities. Our Lead Steward program re-embeds skilled, equity-holding farmers into small farming towns.

Our Lead Stewards are regeneratively motivated soil practitioners specifically tasked with healing our soil and shepherding it to a place of biological abundance. They function as custodians of the land, mentors of up-and-coming farmers, and conduits for EFA’s ability to support and engage in local communities. As such, we are able to align necessary financial incentives and the long-term trajectory of the regenerative movement, all within the scope of EFA’s model. The land is sold with Lead Stewards given the first right of purchase at list price. These puzzle pieces all come together to form one cohesive engine for the upcoming American farming revolution, led by Earth face Ag.

The Lead Steward model is the operational engine of Earth Face Ag and the long-term community that will maintain the momentum of the regenerative movement. It solves the hardest practical challenge in any buy-restore-sell land business: how do you ensure that the people managing the land are fully motivated to execute the protocol with precision and urgency when the land will eventually be sold?

Earth Face Ag's answer is equity structured to reward protocol at the sale event itself and hands-on mentorship to teach and inspire the next generation. After having restored the soil to resell standard, we offer each Lead Steward the option to purchase the land at the anticipated premium before entertaining open market offers.

When big parcels of land change hands (and farming practices) there is often an understandable sense of skepticism in the surrounding community. That skepticism is further fueled when it becomes viewed as short-term, predatory, private equity investment. By giving the Lead Steward the option to own long term, this enables them to confidently engage in the community as an invested member interested in the well-being of their neighbors. It also ensures that we are installing a good neighbor into a rural community.
